A strong return for Spriggan!

On Saturday 5 July 2025, Charlestown Rowing Club headed to the picturesque shores of St Goran Haven for the annual Gorran Regatta, marking the much-anticipated return of our race boat Spriggan to the water following her appearance at the World Pilot Gig Championships in May.

As one of our favourite local fixtures, the Gorran Regatta always delivers a fantastic day of racing and friendship with our neighbouring clubs. With bright skies, light winds and a lively crowd lining the beach, the scene was set for classic Cornish competition.

Charlestown fielded a full line-up of senior crews and put in an outstanding collective performance. The Men’s B crew stormed to a race win, while the Men’s A crew followed with an impressive second place. The Ladies A finished a strong fourth, and the Mixed crew added another solid result to the tally.

By the end of the day, Charlestown finished third overall, with Spriggan proving her pace and precision once again. More than just a regatta, it was a reminder of the shared spirit that makes local racing on the Cornish coast so special.
